Welcome to the website of the Busan Indonesia Centre (BIC) Eastablished in April 30, 1987, the BIC has provided various public services to strenghen exchanges between Korea and Indonesia.
The population is not only a determinant of economic production and consumption activities, but also a crucial factor in shaping the survival of businesses, schools, communities, and even nations. However, South Korea’s total fertility rate has plummeted to 0.78 as of 2022. Now, without the assistance of foreign labor, it has become impossible to maintain the normal operation of businesses, universities, hospitals, nursing homes, construction sites, and restaurants. The demise of the nation itself seems inevitable. Despite implementing numerous pro-natal policies, a fundamental solution has yet to be discovered. Nevertheless, it seems that all citizens agree on the need to first expand the admission of foreign industrial labor and then boldly open up immigration policies to transition into a multicultural society.
BIC ASSET approaches the recruitment of Indonesian workers not as a temporary measure but as a long-term and ambitious endeavor to select our own citizens from a broader perspective. Therefore, when selecting workers, BIC ASSET considers not only their technical skills and abilities to generate sufficient productivity when immediately deployed to industrial sites but also values qualities such as honesty, diligence, and responsibility. The CEO of BIC ASSET has extensive experience in managing Indonesian workers during their tenure as the Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Busan (1993-2007), Advisor to the Embassy of Indonesia in South Korea (2012-2013), and Advisor to the Indonesian State-owned Migration Agency (BNP2TKI, currently BP2MI) from 2012 to 2014. Through these roles, we have acquired profound wisdom on effective and desirable methods for managing foreign workers.
Above all, workers are not commodities but human beings with intellect, emotions, and rationality. Recognizing that “when workers are treated with dignity and respect throughout the selection and employment process in Korea, they approach their work with higher pride, dedication, and sense of responsibility,” BIC ASSET has become aware of this fact. It is under this understanding that BIC ASSET has been able to select personnel, and as a result, we have achieved the proud accomplishment of recruiting the highest quality workforce (with a record of 91% passing rate in skill tests, including welding, and a 50% employment rate) among domestic agencies for the recruitment of foreign workers.
Currently, BIC ASSET has its headquarters located in the BIC Building in Busan, with branch offices in Seoul and Ulsan. Additionally, we have an overseas branch in Jakarta, Indonesia, and recruitment agencies in Batam and Surabaya. In the immediate future, our business activities will primarily focus on the recruitment of skilled workers in the shipbuilding industry (such as welding, electrical work, painting, and fitting), operating study centers (providing admission counseling for Indonesian students aspiring to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees at Korean universities), and short-term training programs (related to the Korean language, K-Beauty, K-Culinary, K-Pop, etc.). We will also concentrate on the recruitment of seasonal agricultural and rural workers, as well as seafarers for offshore vessels. However, BIC ASSET has plans to expand their operations to meet the demand for Indonesian manpower in various regions, including construction sites of Korean companies in the Middle East, as well as in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, the Middle East, North America, Europe, and other locations, with a focus on providing highly competent and professional Indonesian workers.
BIC ASSET is committed to faithfully fulfilling its role as an intermediary to ensure that the relationship between workers and employers evolves into a mutually beneficial partnership based on trust, respect, and mutual benefits. We aim to foster a beautiful partnership where both parties can experience the advantages and benefits of such a relationship.
